“I am the Lord your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell” (v10). The Amorites stole the Israelites’ crops and domestic animals (v3-6), terrorizing them so badly that the Israelites hid in caves. But God said the real problem was that they feared “the gods of the Amorites”. The Israelites were worshiping idols because they did not believe God could give them what they needed (v25-28).
“I led you up from Egypt and brought you out of the house of slavery” (v8). God’s deliverance in our lives begins with breaking down our idols and leading us to freedom (v25), so that in Him we can find what we truly need.
