NC WOrship Arts

The arts are an integral part of worship. The dedicated singers, instrumentalists, dramatists, and technicians of the Worship Arts Department faithfully commit themselves to worship the Lord “in Spirit and in Truth.” Our joy is enhanced by helping to lead others in experiencing God through genuine worship.  Matching our church family, our styles vary from contemporary to classical, and our Worship Arts personnel include artists from the professional to the dedicated amateur.

Our ministry includes musicians, fine arts artists (painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, woodworking, and more), sound technicians, lighting technicians, videography and editing technicians, and more. No matter what your art, there is always a place for the person who sincerely wishes to minister and grow through the art with which God has gifted them.

It would be a joy to share the ministry of the NC Worship Arts with you.

NC CHoir

The NC Choir assists in leading worship in the 9:15AM Sunday morning service, as well as special presentations throughout the year including Easter, Christmas, Patriotic Sunday, Classics Concert, and more!

Our NC Choir is open to high hchool seniors and adults, and we welcome anyone interested in making a joyful noise to the Lord to contact Pastor Ron Steen for information on how to get involved in this ministry. Various solo and small ensemble opportunities are available for Cathedral Choir members through audition.

nc orchestra

The NC Orchestra is the central instrumental music ministry of the church. The NC Orchestra not only provides instrumental support to our worship services but functions as an independent musical ministry group as well.  Smaller instrumental ensembles and soloists are frequently drawn from NC Orchestra personnel to provide music for many other church functions, such as weddings and special events. The orchestra is open to instrumentalists from high school students and older.

nc worship teams

The Worship Arts serves our church family with many different styles of worship. Each of our worship teams has their own unique sound as they lead our congregation in worship to the Lord.

Our Young Adults offer several “Worship Nights” throughout the year and Thursday Night services, with sustained synths, lead guitar riffs, and tight vocal harmonies with inspiration drawn from many popular contemporary worship bands.

Our Wednesday Prayer team focuses on creating a blended acoustic service with modern voicings of traditional hymns mixed with contemporary worship, from “It is Well” to “The Blessing”, to promote an atmosphere of prayer.

Our 9:15AM Sunday Service Worship team is a blended style of worship that combines the Cathedral Orchestra, Cathedral Choir, and Worship Leaders through traditional and modern worship choruses with a full orchestral sound and tight vocal harmonies!

Our 11AM Sunday Service Worship team offers contemporary biblically-based worship that encourages an authentic connection with God through our openness and creativity, as we gather to give God our full attention through worship, seeking Him in prayer, and listening to His Holy Spirit.

If you have a heart for worship and are gifted in this area, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Auditions and Interviews are available for all who are interested in serving on one of our worship teams as an instrumentalist or vocalist. We may already be in prayer asking God for someone just like you, so apply today!

NC Drama ministry

Our NC Drama Ministry combines elements of all our Worship Arts teams and is an expressive outlet of worship for those with the gift of acting, lighting, sound design, makeup design, stagecraft, and so much more. These dedicated teams work at select times throughout the year in plays, musicals, special events, and our annual Easter production.

nc visual arts ministry

Our NC Welcome Gallery is designed to provide artists, of all mediums, the opportunity to display their worship through art as they refine their God-given gifts.  It provides the congregant and visitors a unique venue to gather and view original art created with the primary purpose of communicating the Kingdom of God and His Glory.  In the NC Visual Arts ministry, our goal is to serve as a meeting place where glimpses of God as He is may be revealed and reflected by and through each of us.  When submitting your art, please click below to fill out our Welcome Gallery Art Submission and Artist Statement Form.

Concert series & special events

The NC Worship Arts hosts a number of concert series and special events throughout the year, which range from special guest recitals, as well as church-wide events including the Classics Concert in late summer/early fall, the Sounds of Christmas Concert, our Service of Honor in July, and many more. These events often combine personnel from all of our NC Worship Arts teams and volunteers.  These events are definitely not to be missed!

nc tech teams

Our dedicated teams of technical personnel on our NC Tech Team help enhance the worship environment and sharing the Word of God through Livestream productions of our services, and running the in-person technical experience. Our teams help run both in-person and digital sound design, lighting, videography, video editing, production management, and so much more. If you have experience or would like to get involved with our behind-the-scenes ministry, auditions and interviews are available anytime!
